Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is set to visit Louisville this week as part of the Harris-Walz campaign tour ahead of the upcoming general election. Walz, who was selected as Vice President Kamala Harris’s running mate in August, will arrive at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport around 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23.
Walz will then speak at a campaign reception at 5 p.m., organized by the Harris Victory Fund. The event’s location has not been disclosed. After his stop in Louisville, Walz is scheduled to continue his campaign in North Carolina, visiting Durham, Greenville, and Wilmington on Wednesday evening. His campaign trail will also take him to Philadelphia on Thursday.
Walz’s selection as Harris’s running mate came after Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear was also considered for the position. Despite not being chosen, Beshear publicly supported Walz, calling him “a great friend and a great choice” on social media.
Walz, a military veteran and a strong advocate for workers’ rights, has earned recognition for pushing progressive policies in Minnesota, including expanding abortion rights and providing aid to families.
With just weeks until the Nov. 5 election, Walz and Harris are ramping up their efforts in key battleground states like North Carolina and Pennsylvania. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Election Day.
Early voting will also take place starting this week. You can find no-excuse absentee voting locations in Louisville here.
