Thanks to a new project by BlueGrass CannaMed in association with the Kentucky Cannabis Industry Alliance (KCIA), Kentucky residents seeking their medicinal cannabis cards will soon have a reasonably priced and convenient solution.

Eligible patients can arrange $99 medical cannabis card visits at the forthcoming Lucky Leaf Expo, scheduled May 30–31, 2025, at the Kentucky International Convention Center. Room M-100 (Main Concourse) will host the patient drive, providing simple access for the public as well as fair attendees.

The effort comes at a time when Kentucky continues to prepare to introduce medicinal cannabis stores later this year. The project intends to minimize financial barriers and guarantee patients are not left waiting when dispensaries start.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with KCIA to make medical cannabis access more affordable and accessible for Kentuckians,” said Chrystal Kelmanson, APRN, owner of BlueGrass CannaMed. “Our goal is to simplify the application process, ensuring that eligible patients can easily navigate the steps required to receive their medical cannabis card.”

Patients might walk in during expo hours or pre-register at www.bluegrasscannamed.com. To qualify, individuals must present a valid ID and either a digital or paper copy of medical records verifying their qualifying condition. Staff members from BlueGrass CannaMed will be on hand to help with all application processes—including notarization.

“The Kentucky Cannabis Industry Alliance is dedicated to fostering a responsible and accessible cannabis industry in the Commonwealth,” stated KCIA Executive Director Rachel Roberts. “This patient drive is a critical step in empowering Kentuckians with the medical options they deserve, and we are proud to support KCIA Members in this important endeavor.”
