Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit hit the Palace for a two-night tour stop in Louisville this weekend, accompanied by Southern gothic Blues artist Adia Victoria. (Read Victoria’s interview with LEO here.)

Isbell, a former member of Drive-By Truckers, played hits of his own — “Cover Me Up,” “Elephant” and “24 Frames” — plus a few covers from artists like Cat Power and R.E.M.

Isbell was originally scheduled to play at the Palace a few weeks ago, but he had to reschedule his concerts when he got a breakthrough case of COVID. Victoria told the audience that she had also recovered from a COVID case of her own, but she told the crowd how important it was that she and her band were able play live shows again after a long delay.

“Thank you to all of you guys for masking up and vaxxing up,” she said. “That means the world to us and helps us do what we do.”

Still, this weekend’s shows had their own setbacks: a snow squall on Friday night hampered visibility on roads all over Louisville, causing traffic delays throughout the city.

But on Saturday, the house was full of fans ready to rock with Isbell and Victoria.

LEO shot the first three songs for each artist on Saturday’s show.
