After more than six decades of serving the Hikes Point community, Hikes Point Bar & Lounge at 3937 Taylorsville Road will soon close its doors.

Known for its iconic “Ladies Invited” sign, the bar has been a neighborhood institution since 1960, offering a welcoming space in an era when many local bars were male-only establishments over the last 64 years.

Leonard Meyer, the bar’s owner, was 25 years old when he opened the bar in a strip center on Taylorsville Road. He died in August this year at 88 years old.

As the bar pours its final drinks, it will be replaced by The Dubliner, an Irish-themed bar. The closure marks the end of an era for the Hikes Point area.
