All Thai’d Up, a Thai food truck that now also has a brick-and-mortar establishment, had its grand opening yesterday at 211 South 5th Street downtown.

Mayor Fischer took part in the opening ceremony and tweeted his support for the restaurant this morning:

The restaurant replaces a former location of Carali’s Rotisserie Chicken.

LEO spoke with owner Kathy Aphaivongs-Harrod in January about her plans for the space. She said she had been wanting to open a fixed location for a while — even as early as 2017, when she moved to the U.S. from Thailand — but the success of her food truck, especially in the last two years, finally made it viable to open a brick-and-mortar restaurant. She said a downtown location was ideal because she didn’t want her business to be open late, and downtown restaurants tend to be especially active during lunchtime.

(That said, the All Thai’d Up food truck is still active; its schedule includes upcoming appearances at South Jackson Street tomorrow afternoon, LDB Fest next weekend, and a popup at The Merryweather on March 17. You can check out its full list of appearances here.)

The restaurant had a soft opening that started Feb. 16, during which they offered free drinks to customers as a thank-you for helping their staff work out the kinks of the new place.

The menu at All Thai’d Up includes spring rolls, pad thai, various rice bowls, boba tea, papaya salad and other Thai dishes. You can place pickup orders at this link.
