The growing interest in pre-Christian holidays is giving the community many opportunities to find celebrations that dont tie them to a church or temple but can give them a spiritual connection in other ways, often with nature. The Beltane celebrations are an example of those. Happening May 1, Beltane commemorates the midway point between spring and summer. It is the May Day celebration.
Ravens Roost in New Albany is hosting a couple of events to both celebrate Beltane and to give folks the tools to build their own celebrations of the day.
This Thursday, April 21, from 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Ravens Roost and The Rooted Druid are hosting A Solitary Witch's Guide to Beltane. This event will teach those interested in Beltane about its roots and how to incorporate the themes of the day into personal magical and spiritual practice. The cost of the class is $10 and will be held at Ravens Roost.
On May 1, which is the Beltane holiday, Raven's Roost will also host their New Albany Beltane festival.
From the Ravens Roost Facebook page: Beltane is a time to honor growth, abundance, and love and light. A time when flowers begin to bloom and greenery starts their growth spurt.
This will be a family-friendly celebration and will include shopping, crafts, music, drinks, a drum circle, mini maypoles, etc.
If youve been interested in exploring new ideas and new celebrations, dont miss this event and the Litha event that will follow later in May.
