on editor’s note: curb your bern

Aaron, regarding ‘Curb your Bern.’ I disagree with your comments. There is nothing wrong with a 74-year-old Jewish president from New York. Remember, when Hillary first ran for senator in New York, she bragged that she was part Jewish herself (it turned out that only her step-grandmother was Jewish). Also, Hillary is getting on in years herself. If 20-somethings can feel the Bern, then so can you and I. You mention the Bernie has been a true warrior for the working class — correct. You mentioned that Congress allocates too much money for the military — then Bernie is your man. He voted against the war in Iraq, while Hillary was in favor of war and voted for it. Keep in mind that Bernie has been against war, while Hillary and Dick Cheney have not seen a war they didn’t like — indeed Wall Street likes war — there is money in it. So, yes indeed, it is high time for a Jewish president, and Bernie more than fits the bill. — Steve Imhoff

On Derby Nightlife Guide: Stumble off the beaten path

Shame on you LEO for encouraging drinking and getting drunk. Your magazine is not family-friendly. — Richard Graef

As a cab driver, I really want info on the more “off-the-wall” things going on. Contrary to popular belief, not everybody who comes for Derby is interested in the horses. — Angi Bourne

On barkeep confessions: Bourbon and Beanie Babies

I think there is a huge difference between bourbon and Beanie Babies. Beanie Babies are a collectible with no other function. Bourbon has a function. The collection aspect may fade, but the taste is only going to get better as the process gets refined. ? — James Farrell

On artist ralph steadman’s derby issue cover:

Your Derby issue of LEO is a disgrace to women. How could you print something so disgusting about women? You owe women an apology. The man who drew this picture should be fired — what kind of dirty mind does he have? Don’t know that I will ever read another LEO. — Ms. Marilyn Johnson
