Wawa, Inc. has said that its second location in Louisville will open for business on Friday, September 5, at 4310 Bardstown Road. Wawa is expanding into the Midwest, and this store is the company’s second outlet in Kentucky.
The grand opening will involve Wawa’s “Hoagies for Heroes” program, partnerships with local businesses, and events honoring employees, customers and ordinary heroes.
“We are grateful to the Louisville community for embracing us with open wings when we opened our first store in the state in July,” said Brian Schaller, President of Wawa. “With each new store, we bring our unique combination of fresh food and beverage, convenience and service to local communities, and we extend our commitment to being a good neighbor through community partnerships.”
By the end of 2025, the company wants to open up to eight stores in Kentucky. Its long-term objective is to build more than 40 outlets across the state. It costs $7.5 million to build a new Wawa, which supports about 140 local contractors during construction and hires an average of 35 workers after it opens. Wawa said in a press release that it hopes to create 1,400 new long-term jobs in Kentucky by the time all of its planned outlets open.
