Dentophobia—the fear of dentists—is not only a real condition but also a common experience. Although it might begin as a psychological issue, fear of dentistry can lead to physical effects, not only on oral health but also on whole-body wellness. Dr. Ailey Blystone is about to change all that.

Born in the Philippines and raised in Kentucky, Blystone was inspired to study dentistry after growing up with dental issues. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Kentucky and then a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of California, San Francisco. After years of clinical experience, she decided to combine her expertise with her empathy to not only treat teeth but also to educate patients in an anxiety-free environment.

Tooth Café will redefine what it means to visit a dentist. Blystone calls it “a dental destination.” The newly designed location in the Phoenix Hill neighborhood is not just a place to get routine cleanings and examinations. The café-inspired office prioritizes comfort and hospitality in a space where patients can unwind and feel genuinely cared for.

Tooth Café welcomes patients into a stylish lounge atmosphere with spacious seating, a high table with charging ports, and natural light. The space also includes a self-serve espresso machine stocked with locally roasted beans, rotating from Heine Brothers, Sunergos, Quills, and others.

“Our goal was to create a space where people feel at ease and even excited to take care of their oral health,” Blystone said. “Tooth Café is all about comfort, connection, and top-tier clinical care. We want to break the stigma that going to the dentist has to be stressful.”

Tooth Café offers a range of services from general dentistry, to Invisalign, whitening, and other cosmetic treatments. Blystone augments state-of-the-art dental technology with a personal touch. “Whether you’re here for a routine cleaning or a complete smile transformation, every detail of the experience is crafted with patient comfort and care in mind.”

Tooth Café offers spa-like amenities to elevate the patient experience from the florescent lighting and institutional seating so many patients know all too well. The space includes ceiling-mounted screens with Netflix, plush pillows, and a choice of regular, heated, or weighted blankets. Patients are encouraged to relax during their treatment, so Blystone also offers eye masks, aromatherapy, and subtle details that make a visit feel more like a retreat than a dental appointment.
