Slime Kitchen is spreading its gooey, hands-on universe to Louisville with a new store at Mall St. Matthews, marking the brand’s first step into Kentucky.
On Thursday, December 11, the experience-based franchise, which is well-known for allowing visitors to create their own unique slime masterpieces, will have its grand opening.
According to the company, its concept is a tactile, creative activity in which guests create their own slime by following a guided process that includes choosing bases and smells as well as combining colors and textures.
“No two locations are the same,” said Kathy Ando, founder of Slime Kitchen. “Each city brings its own character, and we can’t wait to see what the Louisville community adds to the mix.”

Why Slime Kitchen opened now
The timing aligns with the height of holiday shopping, when families often look for gifts rooted in experiences rather than products. National retail data suggests experience-driven gifts continue to gain traction, with half of consumers saying they’d like to receive a gift card this year.
“There is so much for families to enjoy here in Louisville, and we’re so excited to add Slime Kitchen to that list,” said franchise owner Julie Grunduski. “Opening this location with my husband and daughter makes it feel extra special. Each day feels like a new adventure, and that’s exactly what makes Slime Kitchen so fun.”
The grand opening celebration will launch at 3 p.m. on December 11. The first 50 attendees will receive a complimentary slime surprise, and staff will be on hand to guide newcomers through the ten-step slime-making process.

Currently, Slime Kitchen has locations in Florida, California, Nevada, Oregon and Iowa.
