Pints & Union officially opened its doors to its Bardstown Road location on New Year's Day.

The New Albany-based Pints & Union is officially open on Bardstown Road, bringing a mix of Indian-inspired dishes, pub fare and craft brews to the Highlands neighborhood. The bar is taking over the space at 1527 Bardstown Road, formerly home to Against the Grain Public House.

Over the last few decades, the Bardstown Road building has had a history of hosting good food and drink between Cumberland Brews and Against the Grain, with Pints & Union carrying on the tradition. Here’s how the building has looked since 2000:

Cumberland Brews: Established in 2000, Cumberland Brews was a trailblazer in Louisville’s craft beer scene. Operating as a two-barrel brewpub initially, it expanded in 2008 with a 15-barrel off-site brewery. Cumberland Brews stuck around for nearly two decades until its closure in 2019, when it handed over the reins to Against the Grain.

Against the Grain Public House: Louisville’s second-largest brewery, Against the Grain took over the Bardstown Road location in 2019. Known for its bold craft beers and flavorful menu, the Highlands Public House became a staple of the neighborhood until it announced its closure in August 2024. However, Against the Grain’s downtown 401 E Main Street location continues to operate.

Pints & Union, originally located in New Albany, IN, has built a reputation for its blend of traditional pub offerings and Indian-influenced dishes. Its menu features options such as korma, vindaloo, bratwurst, wings and fries, paired with an array of craft beers and cocktails.
