Grand openings at two pubs

A UPS pilot got his wings and a former Kingfish CEO went pub-style this week when two new pubs celebrated grand openings. UPS Capt. Mike Duffey and his wife Debbie opened a new sports bar called Wings-N-Things today, at

2809 Hurstbourne Pkwy.
(at
Westport Road
). It offers classic pub grub with a personal touch, from hand-cut french fries to homemade desserts. Duffey attended Guinness Pub School in Dublin, Ireland, where he learned methods for opening and operating a true pub style restaurant. (For more info, call 314-4790.) Meanwhile, MacVittie’s Grill & Pub, which opened in December, held a ribbon-cutting yesterday. Located in the former St. Matthews location of Beef O’Brady’s, MacVittie’s is owned by Ed Penziner, former CEO of Kingfish Restaurants. From beef stew and burgers to Yeager schnitzel, vegetarian and deli sandwiches, MacVittie’s will offer a variety of pub grub and, of course, a wide selection of beers and ales. Call 773-5671 to find out more. —KG
