Three town hall meetings have been scheduled by the Louisville Metro Council on the topic of legalizing the use of marijuana for medical purposes.
The events are to collect information in anticipation of a council vote on a resolution that would urge the Kentucky General Assembly to adopt House Bill 166 or any other legislation that would legalize medical cannabis in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and provide for the care, comfort and relief of any Kentuckian who may benefit.
The first, is tonight Monday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. at Lyndon City Hall (515 Wood Road).
Panelists in support of the resolution and opposed to it will make presentations at each town hall. Two panelists have been confirmed for the event: Molly Rutherford, president-elect of the Kentucky Academy of Family Physicians, as well as, Shannon Stacy, founder and executive director of Alliance for Innovative Medicine.
Audience members will have the opportunity to ask the panelists questions.
The second town hall takes place Monday, Feb. 26 at 6 p.m. at Louisville Fire Fighters Hall (400 Bakers Lane). And the final town hall meeting will be on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. at Southwick Community Center (3621 Southern Ave).
