Anyone can travel to Nashville directly from Louisville starting on Aug. 5. Southwest Airlines

Southwest Airlines will officially offer nonstop flights between Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) and Nashville International Airport (BNA). These flights will leave every day except Saturdays.

The 50-minute flight makes it easier for people from Louisville to get to more than 75 locations through Southwest’s Nashville hub, including popular vacation spots on the Southeast coast. Pensacola, Destin, Panama City Beach, Savannah, Charleston, and Myrtle Beach are all great places to visit. There are also several business-friendly connections to bigger cities all across the country.

Dan Mann, the executive director of the Louisville Regional Airport Authority, said the change is a “win for the community” because it gives people more choices and makes travel faster. A Boeing 737 with 143 seats will fly the route.

This announcement is part of Southwest’s larger growth at SDF, which will include nonstop service to Dallas-Love Field starting this fall. With Nashville now on the board, Southwest’s nonstop flights from Louisville to Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago-Midway, Denver, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Houston-Hobby, Las Vegas, Orlando, Phoenix, and Tampa are all available.

Flights are already available for booking at Southwest.com.
