After the most recent assertion by President Obama that he has been the victim of racism in the past, teens are voicing their frustration. In an interview with People Magazine, Obama said, Theres no black male my age, whos a professional, who hasnt come out of a restaurant and is waiting for their car and somebody didnt hand them their car keys.
This has prompted instant outrage all over social media from teens across the country, calling the President selfish, self-absorbed and thin-skinned.
Sam Jones, president of the newly-founded organization, We Dont Work Here, responded by saying, What the President said isnt racist. Not saying he cant be offended, but its not racist.
Jones, a student at Trinity High School, said this happens to him all the time. Not a week goes by Im not at Best Buy or a grocery store, and some old person comes up and asks me where I can find something or how much something is then I feel bad because theres no polite way of saying, I dont work here you crazy old bag.
The We Dont Work Here mission is to increase awareness for all innocent teens out there who are unjustly stereotyped as employees.
Jones continues, Its also unfair to real employees. I mean, if I were working, I wouldnt just be wandering around all high and munching on some Bugles. Just cant believe thats what they expect out of hardworking shelf-stockers and busboys.
