LIBA will mark its 20th anniversary in 2025 with a birthday celebration at Headliners Music Hall, 1386 Lexington Road, on Friday, February 21st. Attendees are invited to show up and glow up at this electrifying party featuring live music by Tony & The Tanlines, interactive art, light bites, a cash bar, and plenty of surprises – all to honor two decades of supporting local businesses! Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door and can be purchased online.
The All Glowed Up Birthday Bash is presented by Quest Outdoors, along with Highland Cleaners, Louisville Paving Company, Louisville Water Company, Rainbow Blossom, and Stock Yard Bank. Additional support comes from C&H Audio Visual Services, A. Holland Houston Attorney at Law, Heine Brothers’ Coffee, Eclipse Bank, Outsider Art Museum, Hound Dog Press, Revelry Boutique, Cambium Marketing, LEO Weekly, and others.
The Louisville Independent Business Alliance (LIBA), which began as a grassroots movement in 2005 to support and connect local business owners, is now one of the nation’s largest coalitions of independent businesses.
John Timmons, Founder of LIBA and owner of the former ear-X-tacy, put up a billboard 20 years ago that said “keep Louisville weird”, which raised a few eyebrows in the community. It sparked enough interest that a handful of business owners met and created LIBA. Twenty years later, LIBA now represents over 850 independently owned businesses, produces numerous events throughout the city each year, distributes 25,000 Buy Local Guides annually, employs two staff and two project contractors, has a Board of 13 community leaders, and operates on a $250,000+ annual budget.
