Want to ride the Kentucky State Fairs ferris wheel and swings for free?
Kentucky Association of Health Plans is giving away free, unlimited ride wristbands and a $20 gift card to anyone 12 and older who gets vaccinated at the fairs West Wing Health Pavilion.
Its a continuation of the insurance trade organizations Shots Across the Bluegrass campaign across the state. In various counties, KAHP has given away things like concert tickets and $100 Visa gift cards to the vaccinated.
Throughout our Shots Across the Bluegrass campaign, we have really tried to break down barriers and offer the vaccine in non-traditional environments because we have found it puts people a little more at ease who might otherwise be hesitant, said Tom Stephens, Executive Director of KAHP, in a statement. The incentives are certainly attractive, but there will also be medical professionals there to answer questions and provide trusted information.
The Kentucky State Fair starts Aug. 19. There will be different vaccine options available to attendees. Normally, a one-day unlimited ride wristband costs $30 at the fair. KAHP is giving them away while supplies last.
Medicaid members may also be eligible to receive an incentive offered by their health plan if they get vaccinated.
The promotions have been encouraging, said Stephens. During the giveaways, health department directors told us it was the busiest they had been since the initial vaccine rollout. It feels great to see and hear it, but were not taking our foot off the gas and will be announcing subsequent phases in the weeks ahead.
