Zena’s last call
Zena’s is closing. In an e-mail sent to yours truly from Stephen Davis of Bluestown, the Main Street club known for its blues concerts, Zena’s will throw a final show on Nov. 29. For clubs, a bleak market is a reality these days.

Studio King’s
As Joe Manning explained at their Headliners show last Wednesday, King’s Daughters & Sons will be heading into the Funeral Home studio next month to record their debut album. This will be the follow-up to the band’s three-song EP you’ve seen at shows.

The Revenants
The Revenants play a live in-store Wednesday at ear X-tacy records (1534 Bardstown Road, 452-1799, 7 p.m.). As always, the shows are free and all ages. You can hear them at www.myspace.com/revenants.

Tom’s World
Tom Gustafson will be in town Halloween weekend for a screening of his latest directorial feature, “Were the World Mine.” The musical, co-produced by Gill Holland of The Group Entertainment, was named Best Narrative Feature at the Florida Film Festival, Best Overall Film at The Fort Worth Gay and Lesbian International Film Festival, and Outstanding U.S. Dramatic Feature at the Los Angeles Outfest. The film will be shown at Village 8 Theatres for a week starting Friday, Oct. 31 — check www.village8.com for show times.
