In Memoriam

A memorial concert is being planned for Dec. 6 in honor of Mark Watson, a member of The Marks, The Uglies and Tempus Fugit, who passed away at his home in Florida last month. The lineup has not been released yet, but check our music blog Bluegrass Catastrophe (bluecat.leoweekly.com) in the coming weeks for more details.

Pour ’Em

Cornerstone and Tribald Studios, in conjunction with Saints (131 Breckenridge Lane, 891-8883), are holding the Pour ’Em Forum every Wednesday from 10:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. The open mic welcomes all musicians to perform in the round. All performances are recorded and videotaped, some will be shown on the CW’s local music show “Backstage Pass,” and most will appear on promotional DVDs of Louisville music. Weekly winners will be selected by Cornerstone founder Brian Cronin and Tribald founder Malcolm McLaughlin, with the top four getting free recording time at either studio.

Every three months, the weekly winners will compete for a free trip. The first destination is Las Vegas. For more information, contact www.myspace.com/cornerstonetribald.

Saturday Sitdown

Jenicca’s (636 E. Market St., 587-8720) is bringing new meaning to the phrase “cheese with your w(h)ine” this Saturday when they host the Saturday Sitdown with Joel Henderson and Robby Hecht. The 8 p.m. show is $15, but that includes two pints of Schlafly brew or two glasses of Martin Codax wine, along with a chocolate and cheese plate with a cup of Jackson’s Organic coffee.

Oktoberfest

Vernon Lanes (1575 Story Ave., 584-8460) gets its Deutsch on beginning at 6:30 p.m. Saturday when it hosts The Rheingold Band. Drafts of Warsteiner will go for $2 from 6:30-7:30 p.m., and a percentage of each ticket sold will be donated to the U of L School of Nursing. Cover is $5.
