Live music in Louisville is less about giant arena acts every weekend and more about underground acts and touring indie bands for you to discover. This weekend leans heavily into that—smaller rooms, but legit touring lineups.

Phoneboy with Heart Attack Man

Friday, May 8, 6:30 p.m.
Mercury Ballroom

A tight indie-meets-pop-punk lineup that’s been making rounds nationally. Phoneboy supplies the shiny hooks, Heart Attack Man puts the bite. This is one of the more solid touring packages to hit Louisville this weekend.

EDITOR’S PICKS

PONY

Friday, May 8, 6:30 p.m.
Mercury Ballroom

Same venue, different energy earlier in the night—PONY leans into fuzzy indie rock with a melodic edge. A good pick if you want something lighter before things get louder.

Big Shrimp

Friday, May 8 & Saturday, May 9
Mellwood Tavern

Two night run more DIY/local scene than your average touring band. If you want to feel the underground vibe of Louisville this is the place.

Chase Matthew (BBQ & Barrels)

Friday–Saturday, May 8–9
Mellwood area

Country fans get a festival-style setup here with Chase Matthew headlining a multi-act event. Expect a crowd and a more casual, party-style atmosphere.

Arcy Drive

Saturday, May 9, 8 p.m.
Headliners Music Hall

One of the better up and coming indie rock bands around right now. Their live shows are loose, energetic and made for mid-size venues like Headliners.

Juvenile

Saturday, May 9, 8 p.m.
Mercury Ballroom

Juvenile’s “Boiling Point” tour, with classic Cash Money-era hits and a full backing band Heavy nostalgia but still draws the crowds.

Freddie McClendon

Saturday, May 9, 7 p.m.
The Monarch Music & Arts Community

A smaller, more intimate show heading into rock/alt territory. If you’re into low-key shows, the Monarch is a good place to see artists you won’t find in bigger venues.

No Cure

Sunday, May 10
The Enchanted Forest & Music Hall

If your weekend trends heavier, this hardcore show closes things out with a louder, more aggressive set.
