Singer-songwriter Mitski Miyawaki, better known only as Mitski, played to a full house at Old Foresters Paristown Hall last night.
Most of Mitskis songs deal with big emotions like heartbreak, loneliness, and loss. During the show, she punctuated many of her lyrics with emphatic gestures and miming stabbing a knife, clenching and shaking her fists, knocking on a door, shooting a pistol, and moving stiffly like a doll, for example all of which drew huge cheers from the crowd. (They also cheered loudly when she paused to drink from a water bottle.) A fan who rode the elevator with this photographer spoke passionately about feeling the emotion behind Mitskis fake stabs.
Mitskis setlist from the night included hits like Nobody and Washing Machine Heart as well as songs from her most recent album, Laurel Hell, which came out in February.
Per the tours COVID/photo policy, which also required masks for all attendees and staff, LEO shot the first three songs of Mitski’s set.
