MF Doom has an impressive resume that includes some of the most incredible collaborations in hip-hop, continued here with newcomer Bishop Nehru. Despite his incredibly young age (he’s 18), Nehru is an incredibly gifted emcee, showing a talent rivaling peers like Odd Future, all while avoiding their visceral pomp. Doom, as always, provides rapping over fractured beats with his slow drawl, balanced by the smoothness of Nehru. Tracks like “Mean the Most” or “So Alone” comes off like Cool Calm Pete, the perfect breezy evening beat, with the windows down with a nice buzz just relaxing. Per typical Doom fashion there are plenty of vocal samples here that lend a playfulness to the entire affair common to his music, but that would be otherwise missed. When Nehru and Doom rap about doing great things, you believe them.
