LRSfest
Brown-Forman Amphitheater at Waterfront Park | 1301 River Rd. | lrs102.com | $15 local, $20 online | Noon – Midnight | All ages

Kids today couldn’t imagine how important WLRS 102.3 FM was back in the 80’s when I was growing up. LRS was the cool station that played all the latest rock music, had the best merch, and brought all the best bands to town, (not throwing shade WQMF, we still have love for you too). But station ownership changes brought different formats and eventually a move to 105 FM for several years before the call letters were dropped altogether. Thankfully, former employee Jim Coyle (Skinny J) bought the rights to LRS 102 and relaunched it back in 2018 as an online radio station, in the process has won the LEO Readers’ Choice Award for #1 Local Radio Station for the past three straight years, recently brought back LRS’ Homemade compilation of Louisville rock bands for the first time in 35 years, and of course the great LRSfest!

Speaking of which, Saturday, July 19th will be one of the best LRSfest lineups yet! Running from noon – 11:00 p.m. at Brown-Forman Amphitheater in Waterfront Park, this year’s fest will be headlined by Atlanta rap rockers Silly Goose, who have won over droves of fans with their absolutely insane live show, (which includes multiple DWP Festival appearances, including Louder Than Life). Their new album, Keys To The City drops October 10th, and two new tracks from the album were recently released: “Keys To The City” and “Now Dance“.

Also on the bill are Phoenix, AZ’s Diva Bleach, whose modern yet nostalgic pop-rock sound has also been winning over scores of fans and landed them on tours with bands such as The Maine, Mayday Parade, We The Kings, The Wonder Years, The Summer Set, Hot Milk, and Daisy Grenade, and has many people talking about them possibly being music’s next big thing!

The rest of the bill is made up of one of the greatest local band lineups I’ve ever seen:

Guerrilla Warfare
Anemic Royalty
Deady
Shitfire
Why DOMS
Antithesis
The Histrionics
Turn3
Charm School
Lucy the Dog
Hirt
Kin of None

Advance tickets can be picked up for $15 at Better Days Records and Electric Ladyland, or for $20 through etix and day of show at the gate.
