I could use every word in my brief count just naming the bands that comprise the 103 songs on this all-louisville compilation. To say that this is an uneven assortment of music is an understatement, but one that misses the point; there is no hierarchy here, just a catalog of the willing and able. And, on some level, everything here works, although there is definitely no real focus to filter any particular thing through. You might have Great Floods or Empira Vultura distinctly heavy bands one moment, then the delightfully atmospheric Cher Von or the Steve Reich-inspired A7A the next. There is more than six hours worth of music contained here, which makes for one beast of a mixtape to power through, but a helluva thing to listen to over a road trip a cure for those holiday travel blues.
