As part two of a planned trilogy called “Evolution,” the Indiana emcee’s latest falls a bit short of that title. Little of that has to do with Sno.; he’s still a more-than-able lyricist and controls a voice tailor-made for his brand of rap. That gloriouSOUNDS is just more of the same we heard on the excellent beautiful NOISE, but with lesser production, is disappointing. Producers GameOva just can’t match the quality of NOISE’s DB Koopa. Sno.’s proposed trio of albums are to all come from different producers so as to present his range, but this is a moot point if the tracks can’t propel him further. Two songs at the tail end are about the only highlights: the seductive “Whisper in Ya Ear” and the aspirational “To The TOP” are both understated and compelling.
