Bizzart’s fourth is his first with producer Innaspace, and I’m not quite sure whom to give more credit. Bizzart’s performance is equal parts Zack de la Rocha, El-P, Tunde Adebimpe and Saul Williams, if their disjointed, paranoid deliveries all meshed together in an oddly melodic gumbo one would not expect from a pre-school teacher.
I may give even higher praise to Innaspace. We bounce between the organized indie-hip-hop chaos of “Hearts” to the techno dub of “Future Girls,” all big drums and sound collage. Factor in the folkie beds given to “My Sister’s in Jail” and “Leaves My Eyes When I’m Not There,” the Spanish flavor of instrumental closer “Wood is Whyte,” and I’m left in awe of this weird little record by these weird little guys. Fantastic.
