Fast Friends continues their trend of making music that is somehow both radio friendly, but a little rough around the edges, in just the right ways. To my ears, their music is rather unapologetically emo, and that eagerness to lean into their interests is apparent. To be clear, I submit that as a good thing; this is music made by people that love what they do, and do so with glee. There is an earnestness that is undeniable. For example, the track “Good as Gold” has an almost Weezer sensibility to it, that privileges fuzzed-out guitars and pleasing melodies, building from a mid-tempo to a blistering end. As a whole, the album stands tall as a cohesive product, one that will certainly satisfy fans of the genre.
