A eulogy, of sorts.

No Comply: born Sept. 18, 2021 – died Oct. 18, 2025.

R.I.P. No Comply. You passed away far too young, but you went out on top and on your own terms! Five total festivals celebrating everything great about Louisville’s all-ages music and skating scenes. Completely set up 100% DIY as a labor of love, it was never about making money. No corporate sponsorship, no Ticketmaster sales or Live Nation venue; just Louisville’s own Dave Armstrong Extreme Park and a donation-based admission with all proceeds going to the bands that played and back into the fund for the next No Comply, (this year’s proceeds are being donated to charity).

To the people behind No Comply, you all did something that, to my knowledge, has never been done before anywhere in the world; you put on a festival not just at a skate park, but literally IN the skate park! You fucking built a stage, ran power, brought in all the equipment, and had a goddamn festival at the bottom of an 11-foot-tall skate bowl! It’s an insane concept that shouldn’t have worked, but it did because of you all!

It’s not like the No Comply crew were professional promoters like Danny Wimmer Presents with a huge budget and a crew that builds festivals for a living. They’re just people who had a crazy idea and a lot of heart and made it happen; not for money or fame, but for the love of the scene and the people in it. And the craziest thing is they pulled it off not just once, but five times!

There were roughly 300 people at the first No Comply, and it grew to several thousand people at the last one, and all were welcomed with inclusivity and positive vibes. No Comply wasn’t just another show or festival; it was something else, something very special. There was a lot of love here. Whether you attended just one or you attended all five, you felt it. There was nothing else quite like it, and I don’t think it can ever be replicated again. No Comply may be dead, but the memories will live on. People will still be talking about No Comply for decades to come, you can be sure of that!

And for all of you that had anything to do with the behind-the-scenes efforts in setting up any of the five No Comply shows, I can’t imagine the physical, mental, and financial tolls putting this crazy thing together took on you. But you did it anyway and created something so absolutely fucking magical and wonderful for all of us, and for that we salute you! May your names be forever woven into the fabric of the Louisville music and skate scenes! Your efforts will never be forgotten!

No Comply is dead: long live the scene!
