Louisville’s beloved Grateville Dead Music Festival kicks off the 2026 season with its annual Halfway to Grateville celebration — a high-energy mid-year gathering that brings the region’s Deadhead and jam-band community together months before the main festival weekend in October (16-18). Serving as the unofficial “first note” of the season, Halfway to Grateville gives fans a taste of the music, community, and riverfront spirit that have made Grateville Dead a must-attend Louisville tradition.
This year’s Halfway to Grateville features live performances from FatBox and The Low Glow, two powerhouse bands perfectly suited for a night of groove-driven celebration. FatBox delivers a dynamic mix of rock, funk, blues, and jazz with tight musicianship and improvisational energy that keeps crowds moving. The Low Glow follows with expansive, soulful jams that create the warm, communal atmosphere fans know and love – check out LEO Weekly’s review of The Low Glow’s latest album D’oh! here. Together, the bands set the tone for a season celebrating the legacy of Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead, while highlighting today’s thriving jam-band culture.
A portion of the evening will support Lenox Lifeline.
