Beatersville beats
The Beatersville Car and Bike Show returns to Phoenix Hill Tavern on Sunday, with musical performances by Davy Jay Sparrow & His Well-Known Famous Drovers and th’Empires from Bloomington, Ind.; Hellfire Revival and Jane Rose and the Deadend Boys from Nashville; and locals 3GC. On Friday night at 7 p.m., an art show will kick off the festivities, with music provided by Woodrow on the Radio. The event, at Liberty Tattoo and Art Parlor (2801 S. Third St.), is free. Analog Records, a new, unconventional record store, is open for business. Jason Pierce, a former manager at Luna Music in Indianapolis, and his wife have opened a new eatery called Please & Thank You at 800 E. Market St. in NuLu. The shop also houses Analog, which offers mostly vintage vinyl for sale, and a ’60s-style listening booth. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, with weekend hours coming soon. Summer lovin’
The Louisville Is for Lovers summer series begins on the Glassworks rooftop Friday at 8 p.m. Workers and The Bad Reeds play, and free 7-inch records by the bands will be released. Tickets are $10 and season passes are available at www.louisvilleisforlovers.com for $33.
Tiny records for sale
New recordings have come to light from hardcore kings Black God, mod rockers The Deloreans, and the fusion of folkie Bonnie “Prince” Billy with psych-rockers The Phantom Family Halo. Black God’s debut, on No Idea Records, is available with a T-shirt, either individually or as a specially priced combo, from www.ShirtKiller.com. The Deloreans’ single, available at local record stores on pink vinyl, has one new song, “Starfish.” The Bonnie/Halo collaboration, “The Mindeater,” is out now from Sophomore Lounge Records.
