Barton 1792 Distillery, a bourbon distillery in Bardstown, announced yesterday that it will no longer offer free tours of the facility.

In a Facebook post, the company wrote that the decision came “after careful review of our brand needs, plant capacity, safety, and practicality.”

All tours and visits prior to April 29 will continue as planned, however. After that, they said, “we’ll concentrate Barton 1792 Distillery on what it does best: producing the world’s best whiskey.”

They added: “We thank you for your support over the years and hope to welcome you to one of our other homeplaces in the future.”

The distillery, which spans almost 200 acres, is “the oldest fully-operating Distillery in Bardstown,” according to their website.
