The Emerald Isle may be far from Louisville, but we’ve still got plenty of local Irish bars and restaurants that keep its spirit alive throughout the year — especially on St. Patrick’s Day.
Check out this list of lucky spots where you can enjoy a green beer and (sometimes) the sound of bagpipes.
Patrick OSheas
123 W Main St.
This downtown pub on Whiskey Row is only a (Blarney?) stone’s throw from the Yum! Center. There are three stories and plenty of great food and music. Don’t sleep on the pretzel with beer cheese!Molly Malones Irish Pub & Restaurant
933 Baxter Ave.
Named for the woman in the song Cockles and Mussels, this Irish bar is the real deal its owners are originally from Ireland. This is a great spot for anyone who wants to go bar hopping on Baxter Ave. since it’s right across the street from another Irish bar, O’Shea’s.OSheas Irish Pub
956 Baxter Ave.
Naturally, any bar with an O in its name is gonna make a big event out of St. Patricks Day, and OSheas has been doing just that since 1958. They also host the annual Blessing of the Beer. The Irish Rover
2319 Frankfort Ave.
Named one of LEO’s best outdoor dining spots in 2022, this Irish restaurant which, incidentally, opened in 1993, the same year LEO was founded is a favorite of LEO food critic Robin Garr. Kathryn HarringtonFlanagan’s Ale House
934 Baxter Ave.
In LEOs 2022 Readers Choice Awards, this bar took home third place in Best Patio for Pets. If youd rather stay inside, theyve got weekly trivia nights and TVs for game day.H.M. Franks

Louisvillians will have to cross the river for this venue. Fittingly for the holiday, its food options include a sandwich called a Mr. Patrick. The Raven Irish Pub
3900 Shelbyville Rd.
This restaurant/bar, which opened in 2020 as another Molly Malones location, is also owned by an Irish-born Louisvillian. It proudly calls itself the citys premier rugby pub. LEO food critic Robin Garr is a fan of its Lenten fish fry options.Jackdaw Coffee & Bourbon Bar
120 S. Floyd St. (inside the Cambria Hotel)
Though not a traditional Irish venue in the same sense as other venues on this list, Jackdaw (whose name comes from a bird commonly found in Ireland) serves Irish soda bread, Irish nachos, and corned beef sandwiches.Shenanigans Irish Grille
1611 Norris Place
This Irish bar in Tyler Park says theyve got the coldest beer in Louisville.More Shenanigans
4521 Bardstown Road
As youd expect from the name, this bar is a sibling, in a way, to Shenanigans. Its regular menu includes fish sandwiches, fried bologna, and more, and its St. Patrick’s Day menu includes green beer and corned beef and cabbage.Patricks
3202 Frankfort Ave.
This neighbor of Hooked on Frankfort and Frankfort Avenue Beer Depot was ranked second (below Play Louisville) in the Best Place to Find a Date IRL category in LEOs Readers Choice Awards in 2022. Their credo: Respect, Love & Peace – That’s our offering. In turn, we expect the same.
