Porkland BBQ, a barbecue restaurant in the Portland neighborhood, will close as a restaurant and become a catering business after this week, according to an announcement on social media yesterday.
In a Facebook post, owners Shawn and Inga Arvin said, After operating Porkland BBQ for four years, it has recently come to our attention that the property where Porkland is located is not zoned to be a restaurant. Unfortunately, this will be our last week operating as a restaurant at 2519 St Cecilia St.
In addition to the new catering business, the Arvins plan to host weekly fundraisers on Fridays, serving barbecue and fish.
Starting Friday May 27, we will be open from 11am 7pm continuing what we have built upon the last 6 years which started at the Mackin, they said.
The Arvins are also the founders of Love City, a community organization that provides economic help, health screenings, a community garden and more.
Porkland BBQ is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today, tomorrow, and Thursday before closing.
