Louisville is getting a strong and breezy coffee brand with Hawaiian roots. Renowned for its humorous name and fine Kona-sourced brews, Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii has revealed intentions to open three stores in Derby City beginning in early 2026.
Daniel and Nicole Lenhardt, a husband-and-wife team still choosing locations for the trio of stores, will own the franchise locally. Although the business already has two stores in Lexington, this is its first appearance in Louisville.
Established on the Big Island of Hawaii in 1989, Bad Ass Coffee was developed to provide consumers all around the globe the unique flavor of American-grown Hawaiian coffee. Its beans are from the Kona region as well as Kauai and Maui, providing a distinctive taste sensation anchored in island history.
With almost 40 stores operating around the United States and more than 100 under development, the company’s move into Louisville is another step in its increasing footprint—and a tasty addition to the city’s vibrant coffee culture.
