TEN20 Craft Brewery in Butchertown has crossed town and expanded into Anchorage.
The new location at 11505 Park Road opened to the public on, Dec. 10.
LEO got to check out the cozy 2,000-square-foot space, which is tastefully decorated with knickknacks, paintings, and plush seats. The Anchorage location offers a wide variety of beers, including lagers, sours, and ales.
We also sat down with Jim McGuire, CEO and co-founder of TEN20, to ask him about the expansion and how the new location came to be.
We have known for a ong time really, since our inception that we want to grow, we want to expand, McGuire told LEO.
He and his team members were discussing the idea during a strategic retreat in February. Anchorage resident Dean Holland, founding chairman of TEN20s board, said he knew of a spot in the neighborhood that would likely be available, and it was. Now, 10 months later, the new brewery is ready to welcome customers.
The original brewery in Butchertown opened in October 2020, more or less the peak of the pandemic in Kentucky.
McGuire attributes the companys ability to thrive over the last year to his tremendous team members: We have a really wonderful team of people, from our investors, to our leadership team, to our service staff, to our founders or owners. Now, he said, Everybody’s really committed to making this project a successful one.
Although the purpose of a brewery is, of course, to serve alcohol and spirits, McGuire sees a larger cause in establishing the new business.
Our company’s purpose and mission is to bring people together for good. It is what drives us; it’s what’s most important to us. Certainly, beer is one way in which we do that. But we look for all opportunities to do that, he said.
Part of the companys work involves supporting Change Today, Change Tomorrow, a nonprofit that helps Louisvilles Black community.
Being involved and being engaged in our community is really, really important to us, and that’s something that will be the case here in Anchorage as well, said McGuire.
