In 2025, several restaurants in Louisville and Southern Indiana have closed their doors, changing the local food scene across the Louisville Metro.

Cottage Inn – 570 Eastern Parkway, Louisville
After nearly a century of service, Cottage Inn has closed its doors. The restaurant, a long-standing favorite in the community, has been replaced by a new diner concept. Chef Chris Seckman, known for his culinary expertise, is behind the new establishment, aiming to continue the legacy of quality dining in the area. Just a few months after opening, Dirty Bird has temporarily closed its doors. The fried chicken spot, which opened in February 2025 in the former Tim Tam Tavern space, announced it will pause operations while waiting for a liquor license from Kentucky’s Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) department. ShopBar, a unique blend of boutique and cocktail lounge, will close permanently on Monday, June 30, 2025. Known for its vibrant patio and curated shopping experience, the establishment has been a staple in the Germantown neighborhood. Shop BarHi-Five Doughnuts – 1940 Harvard Dr, Louisville (Highlands)
Hi-Five Doughnuts, a beloved Louisville bakery known for its creative, made-to-order treats, closed after 12 years in business. The owners, who started with a farmers market tent and grew into two storefronts, said they’re stepping away to focus on quality of life. The Highlands location closed on April 27, 2025. Ten20 Craft Brewery closed its Douglass Loop location in April 2025 after the lease expired. The brewery decided not to renew the lease and chose to focus on upgrading its flagship location in Butchertown, continuing to serve craft beer enthusiasts in the area. Wick’s Slice, known for its quick and casual pizza-by-the-slice service, has closed its NuLu location. The closure was due to a significant rent increase, which made continuing operations at that spot unsustainable. 21st in Germantown, a historic tavern dating back to 1887, has faced challenges leading to its closure. In June 2025, the Kentucky ABC issued an emergency suspension of its liquor license due to violations involving underage drinking and over-service of alcohol. Rooftop Grill, located at 414 W. Oak St, has permanently closed. The space was previously occupied by Gradys Bar and Grill, which also ceased operations.
