A Butchertown charcuterie company that specializes in local cheeses is getting ready to close its doors next month.
Jessica Mattingly, the owner of Cultured Cheese Shop, posted on social media that the store, located at 1007 E. Main St., will close on March 7. Since September 2020, the female-owned company has been operating in the neighborhood for over five years, taking over the space that was previously occupied by Red Hot Roasters.
Mattingly said Cultured was created as a place that felt like home.
“From the beginning, Cultured was about creating a place that felt like home. A place to gather, share plates, and catch up with your best pals,” she said in a release on Facebook.

Cultured’s next move
While the Butchertown location is closing, Mattingly indicated that the business will continue in a new form. She said Cultured will embark on a new journey at Copper & Kings, with more information to be shared soon on the shop’s website.
