Kentucky Derby Festival

Think you’ve got the ultimate burger recipe? Prove it! Submit your best creation online at KDF.org/Beef by Friday, January 31st for a chance to win the 2025 Derby Burger Challenge. Now in its 13th year, this epic beef showdown is brought to you by 80 Acres Farms, Dan-O’s Seasoning, Kentucky Beef Council, and Kroger.

Whether you’re a home cook or a professional chef, this competition is open to all burger enthusiasts. To enter, submit a creative name, detailed description, and photo of your burger.

Your recipe must feature 100% beef, Dan-O’s Seasoning (the official seasoning of the Kentucky Derby Festival), and greens or herbs from 80 Acres Farms (the Festival’s official greens).

Entries will be judged on taste, appearance, creativity and ease of preparation.

“Eating burgers made with 100% beef is not just about enjoying a delicious meal – it’s also a way to support Kentucky’s thriving beef industry, the largest beef producing state east of the Mississippi River,” said Kelly Baird, Director of Communication and Events of the Kentucky Beef Council in a statement. “By participating in the Derby Burger Challenge, you’re not only celebrating the versatile, mouthwatering flavors of beef but also highlighting the importance of agriculture industries in the Commonwealth. From unique toppings and seasonings to innovative cooking techniques, the possibilities to craft the perfect burger are limitless.”

Finalists will be selected through online voting in February, with the top four competing in a cook-off this March. The winning burger will be featured at Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville, sold in Kroger stores, and come with amazing prizes, including Derby VIP tickets, a Kroger gift certificate, and grilling swag.
