On Wednesday, October 29, APRON Inc. will have its October Happy Hour Friend-Raiser at Hop Atomica Louisville (1318 McHenry Street), bringing together art, spirits, and community. “Kentucky Reverie: An Intimate Portrait of the Bluegrass State,” a new photography show by renowned visual storyteller Dan Dry, whose work has shaped Kentucky’s cultural iconography for over 50 years, will be unveiled that evening.
With a welcoming reception at 5:30 p.m. and happy hour festivities from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., the event will run from 5 to 8:30 p.m. In addition to free samples from nearby distilleries, light fare, and the return of APRON’s well-liked “Spin the Wheel” giveaway for prizes, merchandise and gift cards, guests can peruse Dry’s captivating selection of fine art prints.
Dry, a longtime board member of APRON Inc. and managing director of PriceWeber’s Creative Content Studio, has collaborated with National Geographic, captured almost 50 Kentucky Derbys, and won over 500 photography honors.
His most recent series, Kentucky Reverie, provides a personal and poetic look into the people, scenery and soul of the state.
“Dan’s photographs remind us why Kentucky feels like home,” said Paul Berrier, Managing Partner at Hop Atomica. “Hosting this show began as a simple idea—to honor an artist who’s spent his life capturing our shared stories—and it’s grown into a meaningful celebration of art and community.”
A percentage of the evening’s earnings will go to APRON Inc., a nonprofit organization in Louisville that offers vital financial support to local bar and restaurant employees who are experiencing unforeseen difficulties.
“APRON Inc. has long stood behind the people who make our city’s restaurants, bars, and cafes thrive,” said Dry. “It’s an honor to combine my love for photography with a cause that means so much to Louisville’s creative and culinary community.”
