Art news The Kentucky School of Art, the arts college within Spalding University, has recently had its first graduating class of nine students (kentuckyschoolofart.org).

The museum store in Locust Grove Historic Home is holding an inventory reduction sale through June 28. Included in the sale are Kentucky-made crafts, books and toys (locustgrove.org).

The first annual AIGA Louisville Design Week will be held June 8-12. The event will bring designers and other creative professionals to Louisville (louisville.aiga.org).

The Filson Historical Society is closed during 2015 due to building expansion. The planned reopening is mid-2016 (filsonhistorical.org).

Call for art educators: The Fund for the Arts invites local educators to apply for arts-in-education grants for the 2015-2016 school year through the EVERY CHILD Arts Education Initiative. Applications for the two different programs will be accepted via website with two separate deadlines: July 15, 2015 and Sept. 15 (fundforthearts.com).

The Kentucky Foundation for Women is now accepting artist retreat requests for the Hopscotch House for dates between July 20-Dec. 13. The retreat program offers up to six days free to artists, activists and allies who live and work in Kentucky and offers stipends to women who face financial challenges that may prohibit them from experiencing a successful retreat (kfw.org).

Carl deGraaf is demonstrating hand-built pottery at Gallery Janjobe, Mellwood Arts & Entertainment Center, 1860 Mellwood Ave., on Saturday, June 13 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. (galleryjanjobe.com).

The reception for “Becoming Wisteria” at PUBLIC Gallery, 131 W. Main St., is on Saturday, June 13 from 6-8 p.m. It runs through July 11 (louisvillevisualart.org).
