The Great Meadows Foundation has launched. The initial program, Artists Professional Development Grants, will provide visual artists in Kentucky with grants for travel outside the state, nationally and internationally. This program encourages artists to engage critically with the international art world and thereby to enrich the art environment we live in. Guidelines and the application procedure are outlined on the website. Deadline: June 5 (greatmeadowsfoundation.org).

ART moves LOUISVILLE is an opportunity for artists to present new work, performances and ideas around the issue of transportation and mobility in public spaces throughout the city. From the submitted responses to this Request for Information, or RFI, up to five artists will be selected to develop project concepts for short-term, longterm, and event-based projects initiated in fall of 2016. The budget for the overall project series is $100,000. Individual artists’ project budgets will be determined by the artist selection panel upon review of submissions. Deadline: June 9 (publicartinfo@louisvilleky.gov).

The Fran Huettig Public Art Project is an opportunity for artists to work with community members in the Russell neighborhood, as well as the Louisville Metro Department of Safe and Healthy Neighborhoods, to develop a longterm, community-engaged public art project for the fall of 2016. The total budget for the project is $20,000. Deadline: June 9 (publicartinfo@louisvilleky.gov).

The next Second Saturday Artist Demonstrations at Mellwood is May 14 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Mellwood Arts & Entertainment Center, 1860 Mellwood Ave. (mellwoodartcenter.com).

“PROJECT 12: Blind Contours” by Jenee Rue Sastry and Robin LaMer Rahija is showing at Zepher Gallery through May 21 (zephyrgallery.org).

Bill Pusztai’s exhibition “attachments” is showing at garner narrative contemporary fine art through May 27 (garnernarrative.com).

“New Artists in Portland” opens Sunday, May 15 at the Portland Museum, 2308 Portland Ave, from 3-5 p.m. The exhibition continues through June 26 (goportland.org).
