The Mellwood Arts and Entertainment Center is sponsoring the 2016 September Art Fair Poster Contest. $500 cash prize. Deadline: March 31 (mellwoodartcenter.com).

The Kentucky Foundation for Women’s 2016 Summer Residency Program at Hopscotch House invites applications from women artists whose focus is creating work that springs from radical feminist thought. Visual, media and performance artists may apply. The residency dates are June 12-18. Three artists will be awarded a weeklong stay at Hopscotch House, $1,500 project funding and artists will participate in a KFW sponsored show featuring their artwork. Art events The Kentucky Arts Council’s “Arts Day in Kentucky 2015” is on Wednesday, Jan. 20 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Capitol Rotunda in Frankfort (artscouncil.ky.gov).

Gallery K & Coffeehouse, 1600 Story Ave., is having a closing reception for “Finding True North” by Shannon Lockhart on Friday, Jan. 22 at 6-11 p.m. (galleryk.net).
