This celebration of everything Hunter S. Thompson is a definite highlight every year, and now we can enjoy it twice! To help raise awareness of the festival as well as a little funding, GonzoFest and New Vintage are throwing a free (donations accepted) party with live music and plenty of drinks. Its based on a unusual concept a store with rental space for creatives to sell its handmade items. The store opened on South Fourth Street during the revitalization of that area, and then it added a second store on Frankfort Ave. Theyre now carrying work by over 60 local artists. No wonder Block Party is celebrating. During the April 1 First Friday Trolley Hop, theyll be showcasing Bethany Nixon from Reware Vintage. She specializes in T-shirts from the 1970s-90s as well as items crafted from vintage materials. And so its as festive as possible, there will also be a DJ dance party, balloons and cake. Gallery grand opening AA Clay Studio & Gallery 2829 S. 4th St., 851-6549 aaclay.com First came the studio. In 2013, Alex Adams opened AA Clay Studio as a shared working space for clay artists that also offers private lessons, workshops and classes. Now comes the gallery. AA Clay Studio & Gallery is celebrating the addition of exhibition space with the show Make Dishes Fun Again featuring the work of local ceramicists. The grand opening of the gallery is Friday, April 1 at 6:30-10 p.m. with an artists reception and raku kiln firing event. The grand opening continues through Saturday, April 2 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. The gallery will display work by Louisville-area clay artists with plans for an online store.
