Oldham County is launching its annual Fireworks and Fenders event series this July, featuring more than 45 events across La Grange, Crestwood, Prospect, and Westport. Organized by Oldham County Tourism, the monthlong lineup includes concerts, festivals, car shows, races, historical tours, and family activities.
Fourth of July celebrations will take place at multiple locations. Prospect’s Community Celebration begins at 6 p.m. with a parade, DJ, food trucks, children’s activities, and fireworks at dusk. Wendell Moore Park will host a second fireworks display set to music from 10 to 11 p.m.
Oldham County Day on July 19 will honor LMPD Officer Nick Wilt, who was injured in the April 2023 Old National Bank shooting, as this year’s Grand Marshal. A luncheon celebrating Wilt’s service will be held on July 15. The county fair also returns July 15–19, featuring unlimited rides, music, food vendors, and arena shows.
Classic car events are scheduled throughout the month, including Barney’s Auto Fest on July 5, Hot Rods and Music on July 18, and Cruisin with the Quads on July 26. All events are free and open to the public.
The 18th Annual Firecracker 5K takes place in Westport on July 12, and the Bicentennial Fun Run and Walk will be held on July 18, starting at the Sauerbeck Family Drive-In.
Additional programming includes art exhibitions, trivia nights, music performances, and garden workshops at Yew Dell Botanical Gardens. Educational and cultural events hosted by the Oldham County History Center round out the schedule.
