Louisville is a great city to have a dream that you wish to follow. Natural product creator Shona Casey is following hers, and in this week’s Louisville Limelight, we get to meet the owner of the new Noir5 Luxury Handmade Soaps. Open at 1245 S. Shelby St. next to the Canary Club, Casey is giving her dream a big lift by opening a brick and mortar location.
Casey has a background in fashion and cosmetology and is inspired by nature, luxury and functionality.
From her online shop to local farmers markets, local boutiques and Airbnbs, Casey’s Noir5 specializes in organic products for bath and body. She uses no synthetic fragrances and packages her products in recyclable materials. LEO asked Casey a few questions about her work and why Louisville is the place to explore her dream.
LEO: Tell us about yourself and your work.
Shona Casey: I’m Shona, my Passion is Natural & Organic. We are a small company established in 2020 in Louisville, Kentucky that specializes in handcrafted natural artisan soaps and body care products. We also meticulously source certified organic and small batch wildcrafted essential oils, carriers, infused oils, and hydrosols.
What inspired you to follow this path?
I’ve always had a love for skincare. After many years as a hairstylist, I wanted to create a product I could be proud of.
What do you hope to achieve?
I hope to bring natural products that smell and feel luxurious without doing harm to our skin. Whether it’s skincare or natural fabrics.
Why Louisville?
Louisville is Home, no other place I’d rather raise my family.
What do you see in your future?
I would love to expand into a lifestyle brand. 100% organic cotton Pajamas, loungewear, bedding and towels.
How do you hope to influence Louisville?
I would love it if every woman truly understood the importance of natural, aluminum, bleach, and formaldehyde free products.
Random philosophical question: If you could see into the future, would you want to know what happens?
Absolutely, I love nothing more than to prepare myself for whatever lies ahead.
