On Saturday, Feb. 15, the Cultural Arts Center will host Guest Speaker Pam Peters, local author and historian, as she leads the discussion Memory and the Underground Railroad in Floyd County: Looking Back, Moving Forward from 1-2 p.m. in honor of Black History Month.
The Southern Indiana region has many historical connections with the Underground Railroad with several important locations marking stops along its route, which the Cultural Arts Center proudly documents in our permanent exhibit Ordinary People, Extraordinary Courage: The Men and Women of the Underground Railroad. This Guest Speaker event is free and open to the public and light refreshments.

The Cultural Arts Center, a branch of the Floyd County Library, is a contemporary art gallery and history museum that offers a full schedule of changing exhibitions and other educational programs. The Cultural Arts Center also features the ongoing local history exhibits, Ordinary People, Extraordinary Courage: Men and Women of the Underground Railroad and Remembered: The Life of Lucy Higgs Nichols.
