Spring Break is approaching quickly so you may be looking for some fun things to do with kids in Louisville.

For kids in Jefferson County, Spring Break comes April 1–5, In Southern Indiana students get time off from March 18-29… That’s right. Two whole weeks.

If you’re a parent, Spring Break might be the perfect time to stop and relax with your kids. However, some parents have to spend their kids’ break working.

Here are a few ways that your kids can spend Spring Break with or without you having to participate.

Wild Lights at the Louisville Zoo 1100 Trevilian Way This yearly collection of exquisite and intricate Chinese lanterns illuminates the Louisville Zoo in glowing bright colors creating a magical evening event perfect for the whole family. Opening March 23 and running through May 19. Dated tickets start at $19 and Anytime Tickets are $26.
Olmstead Parks 18+ Locations across Louisville A day in the park costs nothing but the lowering of your blood pressure, fresh air and exercise for the kids. Louisville is home to one of the greatest collections of parks designed by Frederick Law Olmstead. It’s worth missing a day of work and spending time with the kids.
Josephine Sculpture Park 3355 Lawrenceburg Rd, Frankfort Another free thing to do just a short drive southeast of Louisville. The sculpture park takes a couple of hours to walk through but the family can interact with large sculptural works by renowned artists. Bring some paint for the graffiti wall and enjoy the spring blossoming alongside the artwork.
Cruise on the Mary M. Miller 131 W. River Rd. Experience the past aboard this small steamboat, and get immersed in family-focused activities that keep within the STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) learning modules. This 1.5 hour cruise is worth every penny. The Mary M. Miller cruises year round. Kids cruises are $14.99.
Spring Break Camp at Griffin Recreation Center 1140 Griffin St, New Albany From 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. each Monday – Thursday of Spring Break, kids will experience sports, STEM activities, field trips and more. Parents must call 812-949-7275 to register their children. This camp is free and early registration is integral and runs from Monday, Mar. 18 – Thursday, Mar. 28.
Yew Dell Gardens 6220 Old LaGrange Road, Crestwood As the Spring blossoms, Yew Dell welcomes a multitude of wonderful blossoms and plants. It’s the perfect place to be inspired for the home garden and to learn about the educational work the organization does.Open Year Round, Free before March 30 for all visitors. After March 30, Free for Members and $9 for adults, and $5 for seniors and youth under 17.
Spring Break Art Camp With LVA 150 State St. At UCHM Students will get exposure to several mediums and techniques through this week-long art experience. (April 1– 5; $250)
