Arts Angle Vantage is looking for you, young writers. Arts Angle Vantage helps to grow arts writing skills and critical thinking about the arts with young people from diverse backgrounds. The work of AAV is to “elevate the voices of young people” and “helps youth better understand themselves, others, and the world around them.” It is integral that young people begin to engage and think deeper about their community and Arts Angle Vantage helps them to do just that and to write about it.

In April, a group of teens attended and reviewed the “Mean Girls” Broadway production for LEO. The latest crew will get to review, “Hamilton”!

The application for this cohort of young writers is open now until Thursday, May 12. Applications can be found here: Apply now. There are limited spaces so don’t waste any time.

From the Arts Angle Vantage website:

“?WE EMERGED TO ADDRESS:

  • increased interest in arts and creativity among young people,
  • precipitous decline in arts education,
  • continued inequities in access to the arts and media by marginalized populations,
  • and decreased arts coverage, which has suffered as the journalism industry faced setbacks with the rise of global technology.

‘Our work offers free workshops to youth that empower them to create arts journalism and engage with the arts, artists, and the greater community about the issues that shape us. Participants get opportunities to attend arts events, meet and talk with artists and arts leaders, learn about writing about the arts and creativity as well as the process and other finer points of reporting and writing, and producing original content for the Arts Angle Vantage digital platforms and other media in the region.’”

In addition to the application for Hamilton, young writers should attend the workshop. More information about that can be found here: Arts Angle Vantage, where teens will receive “guidance from professional journalists, and meet others who share your interests.”
