Roberta Eichenberg, known for her intricate and reflective glasswork, returns to the spotlight with ‘For the Love of the Beasts’, on view June 9 through August 2 at the Art Center of the Bluegrass The show is free and open to the public Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with an artist reception scheduled for Friday, June 13, from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
Eichenberg, a professor emeritus of art at Emporia State University and a longtime figure in the national glass arts community, blends environmental themes, personal reflection, and humor in her work. The pieces in For the Love of the Beasts invite viewers to consider our relationship with the natural world and how both internal and external forces shape identity.
Originally from San Bernardino, California, Eichenberg studied a range of media before focusing on glass, earning her MFA from The Ohio State University. She has worked with the prestigious Pilchuck Glass School and taught across the country, including a 23-year tenure at Emporia State.
Now living and working in Danville, Eichenberg continues to produce new work and exhibit nationally. “Driven by personal rumination and reaction to current events, I realize through the work where I belong in the world,” she said.
The Art Center of the Bluegrass, located at 401 W. Main Street, hosts over 30,000 visitors annually through exhibitions, workshops and cultural events, including the GLASS National Art Museum.
