Light Up St. Matthews

The annual Light Up St. Matthews event, a start to the Christmas season with live entertainment, holiday activities and a stunning lighting ceremony, is opening on Saturday, Dec. 6.

When: Saturday, Dec. 6

  • 3:00 – 6:00 PM: Family-friendly activities
  • 5:30 PM: Photos with Santa line cutoff
  • 6:00 PM: Lighting Ceremony
  • 6:30 PM: Drone Light Show

Where: Brown Park, 1000 Browns Lane, St. Matthews, KY 40207
(Corner of Kresge Way and Browns Lane, next to Baptist Health Louisville)

Parking: Free parking is available at 4003 and 4007 Kresge Way, directly across from Baptist East Hospital.

Family-Friendly Fun for All Ages

This beloved tradition has united residents and visitors for decades. The free event features:

  • Live musical entertainment
  • Letters to Santa
  • Photos with Santa (arrive early—lines cut off at 5:30 PM)
  • Arts and craft stations
  • Train rides
  • Music throughout the park
  • Free cookies and hot chocolate (while supplies last)

Most activities are hosted under a large tent, accounting for any weather.

The Grand Lighting Ceremony

At 6:00 PM, Brown Park will be illuminated with thousands of colorful holiday lights, followed by a drone light show at 6:30 PM. The dazzling display will remain lit nightly through New Year’s, offering a magical holiday backdrop for visitors all season long.
